Value Analysis

Value Analysis is a valuable tool in today’s world of ever increasing material and labor costs. This is actually a practice followed as part of pattern engineering for many years, but is very important to use all the rough the development and commercialization procedure

What is Value Analysis?

Value Analysis has been around for many years.  What it amounts to is a process to find the most economical way or performing the function of a component (or complete product), while maintaining its aesthetic properties and required quality levels.

While ShoeTemp Associates is primarily associated with the Shoe Industry, the principals of Value Analysis training can be applied to any industry.

Advantages to the Manufacturer:

As a practice, the importance of Value Analysis to a manufacturer is that it provides an organized method to discover and implement ways of reducing Cost as early in the development cycle as possible. It’s also used as a valuable tool for reducing cost in products already in production.

Value Analysis represents a valuable method of developing a team relationship between various departments involved in the development, commercialization, material/component purchasing and production of a product

It can also be used as a way of getting the customer involved in (and made aware) of the complexity of putting a new product into production

Advantages to the Customer:

As a Customer, placing orders with a factory that has been trained in, and is using Value Analysis, is that the factory can offer better pricing, through their best use of the most appropriate materials and components.

If the factory you’re using is trained in Value Analysis, and is Efficiency Engineered, as well as using good Production Control methods (as ShoeTemp Associates advocates), quality products, made with the appropriate materials (and components) and reduced lead times are a definite probability
