Training
Knowledge of the product being produced and sold is critical to the continued success of your company. There are very few situations as embarrassing as being asked a question that you can’t answer, or not being able to understand what’s being discussed.
With the cross training of people in purchasing or buying positions that most wholesalers or retailers practice, it’s fairly common to find a person in the uncomfortable position of buying a product that they’re unfamiliar with.
What is Training?
This is not necessarily the definition that you’ll find in a dictionary, but training as we see it at ShoeTemp Associates is providing the information to allow a person to perform their job better by having a basic understanding of the process required to make the product they’re responsible for. This includes not only having a basic knowledge of “what it takes” to get a product from concept to the market, but also to be able to understand (and speak) the “language” of the particular trades required to produce the product.
At ShoeTemp Associates, we offer “hands on” training at all levels from the production line inspectors in the factories to the newer footwear buyers in the customer’s offices.
Advantages to the Manufacturer
Our in-plant training of production line inspectors will show improvements in the product that’s being presented for final inspection. Technical training will allow for better engineering of the products you’re producing, and less time and production lost in repairing or replacing engineering or commercialization mistakes.
Advantages to the Customer
The advantages to the customer of ShoeTemp Associates in-plant training for the producer are pretty obvious, but what about the folks in your offices?
Do they understand what’s involved in the product that they’re responsible for, and can they communicate their thoughts and requirements in the “language” of the industry?
ShoeTemp Associates offers training in your office or a supplier’s factory, to allow your key people to have a basic understanding of the processes involved in taking an idea and making it into a product that your customer will be happy with.
This training can provide an overview that’s as complete or general as you require of the Pattern Engineering involved, Lasts and their effect on the comfort and fit of footwear, the nomenclature of shoe components, etc. ShoeTemp Associates will not make Shoemakers of your people, but can provide them with an insight into the product that they well be investing a fair amount of your company’s capital in.
